Profile:

  • Huafeng Li (李华锋), a Professor with the School of Faculty of Information Engineering and Automation, Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST), Kunming, China. Dr. Li is the director of Computer Vision and Image Processing Group (CVIP Group), which is affiliated to the Key Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence in Yunnan Province. He received the Ph.D. degree in Control Theory and Control Engineering from Chongqing University, Chongqing, China, in December 2012. His current research interests include Computer Vision, Image Registration and Fusion, Multimedia Information Processing and Retrieval, Medical Image Processing and Segmentation, Visual grounding, Person Re-identification, Remote Sensing Image Interpretation. Dr. Li was the World’s Top 2% Scientists (2020, 2021, 2024), Xingdian Elite Youth Top Notch Talents of Yunnan Province, the Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Image Processing (SCI, JCR Q1, IF:10.8), the Young Editor of the Journal of Chongqing University. Currently, he has published over 60 papers in CVPR, AAAI, ACMMM, ICME, IJCV, IEEE TPAMI, IEEE TIP, IEEE TIFS, IEEE TNNLS, IEEE TMM, IEEE TII , IEEE TCSVT, IEEE TGRS, IEEE TCI, IEEE TETCI, IEEE TIM, IEEE TITS, IEEE/CAA JAS, PR, INS, INFFUS, NeuNet, KBS, ESWA, etc. He has served for over 30 journals and conferences as reviewer or PC member, including CVPR, ECCV, AAAI, ACMMM, PRCV, WACV, IJCV, IEEE TIP, IEEE TIFS, IEEE TNNLS, IEEE TCYB, IEEE TIM, IEEE/CAA JAS, IEEE TCSVT, IEEE TETCI, IEEE TMM, INFFUS, NeuNet, KBS, ESWA, etc.


Research Interests:

  • Computer Vision:
    Exploring core technologies and methodologies in computer vision, including object detection, tracking, image recognition, and scene understanding.
  • Image Registration and Fusion:
    Investigating techniques for aligning and merging images from various sources, including multi-modal and multi-temporal data, to enhance visual content representation.
  • Multimedia Information Processing and Retrieval:
    Developing solutions for multimedia data analysis, content-based retrieval, and cross-modal information understanding for various applications.
  • Medical Image Processing and Segmentation:
    Exploring methods for enhancing and segmenting medical images to support diagnosis, treatment planning, and medical research.
  • Visual Grounding:
    Investigating techniques for linking language and visual content, such as referring expression comprehension and visual-language interaction.
  • Person Re-identification:
    Researching solutions for person identification and tracking across non-overlapping camera views in surveillance and other applications.
  • Remote Sensing Image Interpretation:
    Developing methodologies for the classification, segmentation, and analysis of optical remote sensing images, radar data, UAV images, and hyperspectral images.

Research Projects:

  • Intelligent defect identification system of transmission line
    Combined with the needs of intelligent transmission line inspection and maintenance, the intelligent identification system of transmission line defects is developed.The system supports transmission line image quality judgment, high-definition of low-quality images, image content verification, and intelligent labeling and recognition of more than 20 kinds of defects such as insulator self-explosion, bird's nest, pollutants, broken wire, shock hammer corrosion, shock hammer damage, sign fading, and sign damage, which improves the intelligent inspection level of transmission lines.
  • Pedestrian Detection and Re-identification System for Complex Scenarios
    The pedestrian detection system can locate pedestrians present in images and count their numbers, with applications in areas such as vehicle-assisted driving and intelligent video surveillance.The pedestrian re-identification system can locate specific pedestrians present in images, applicable to intelligent video surveillance, smart security, and related fields.
